Re: Jack Willis

I did the highlights from the Quins game on youtube, here's some from the bordeaux game: https://www.reddit.com/r/rugbyunion/comments/dxt4w7/jack_the_ripper_jack_willis_outstanding/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share I didn't do those ones. Best of them all in the breakdown, not even willi...

Re: Snap General Election called

If you don't believe me, ask yourself why, across the world, corporation tax is based on profits? If your idea worked, why is no one doing it? (This doesn't prove you wrong, but it suggests you need to come up with a detailed explanation of how it will work.) it turns out someone is sort of doing i...

Re: Snap General Election called

The company that is not being supported is using labour, using capital, using... and those things can be returned into the market. However I'm not entirely convinced so many firms would be forced under by such change, it doesn't broadly make a difference if costs go up in a sector for a given firm ...

Re: Snap General Election called

For me I'd much rather be able to tax dividends than corporation tax as that taxes distributed income and leaves the companies more incentivised to invest. There might need to be consideration additionally given to companies storing capital in investments, but we're seeing that happen now anyway An...

Re: Snap General Election called

Just as an aside, just went through a really painful phonecall to sort out my vote! The guy on the other end had no idea about anything around the vote...if I'd have followed his advice, I might not have got a chance to vote in person. If that is repeated elsewhere, it's a massive problem. The least...

Re: Snap General Election called

If I’m honest, I kind of see the current shareholder system as breaking the system... It means that the company has a duty to return money rather than a duty to customers. The customer needs to come first. But because we have so many monopolies and pseudo monopolies now, the market doesn’t do that ...

Re: Snap General Election called

I'm taking profitability to be a measure of success, and I want to promote that success. Failing companies should be allowed to fail seeing that capital and labour return to the markets. As before Corp Tax is in essence a handbrake on the economy seeing more successful companies support struggling ...

Which at least means I've not forgotten about extraordinary profit, but doesn't speak to my objections to corporation tax The way the state derives an income from business needs overhauling, or at least questioning, from top to bottom. In an ideal world we would have perfect competition, and most b...

Re: Snap General Election called

My big issue with corporation tax isn't the avoidance, though that's a concern (and one we'd be better off addressing as an EU member) but rather what's the intent of it? In essence the tax seeks to levy profitable business, and that's a little weird, it's basically taxing the good to subsidy the b...

Re: Snap General Election called

I'll be honest, the presence of Len McClusky is a real turnoff for a Labour vote. Which begs the question: Why doesn't the UK have a real new party? One that stands for humanist values and is apart from trade unions, who are, let's be frank, behind the times. Because I mainly agree with a lot of La...

Re: Players who need a break from test rugby?

We have the summer off for most of the WC squad. I think we're unlikely to see the following in Japan...

Mako
Marler
George
Sinckler
Cole
Itoje
Kruis
Lawes
Underhill
BillyV
Youngs
Heinz
May
Watson
Daly
Tuilagi
Joseph

Which would make for a very interesting squad.

Re: Snap General Election called

Anyone with a pension fund planning on retiring any time soon....eg me....should be turning it into cash about now, assuming Labour get any sniff of power. Personally, I'm not convinced government run anything will be better than what exists today, there's not a great deal of proof in the UK that t...

I will note that they're not planning on nationalising broadband providers, but nationalising the network infrastructure - BT OpenReach, rather than BT. It makes a bit more sense when you look at it that way, as doing that allows them to control the rollout of fibre broadband based on what's best f...

Re: Transfer news, fake news, baseless speculation, and various levels of truthiness - Season 2019/20

I thought Wolves did that on the back of a very rich owner pouring money into the club, good to hear this isn't the case and it was instead done using real rugby values, which I presume in this day and age means illegal payments to players Well, I didn't say values... Been turning out for local 3rd...

So you are saying £48000 pa extra for the top 5% then   ( I am kidding- thats the Daily Mail version) I remember a Labour policy a few years ago that my dad was convinced would lead to him paying 10k+a year extra tax. Even though the calculator showed he’d pay about £120 more a year... Th...

True, although readers of the Sun, Mail, Times, Telegraph etc will be unaware of the Tories' blunders. They only know that Labour's plans will cost a million billion million pounds. And will require each and every taxpayer to hand over £2,400 extra each year*. *This figure accomplished by taking ev...

Laurie Dalrymple is Quins' new CEO.

Good appointment. A real rugby man who's spent the past few years turning Wolves football from a basket case into a European team. Plus the regen of their ground.

I still suspect his balance had a lot to do with kicking his leg out. His hips are in front of his body, he's already leaning backwards and trying to put his foot down. Natural reaction is to straighten the bent leg. That strikes me as the opposite of the natural reaction. If you're falling backwar...

Re: Sale vs Wasps

His leg is already straightening before he looks in front, his eyes are in the air. His hips are also further forward than his body, and his legs in front of that, so he's off balance, as his landing leg moves down, you need something else offsetting that movement, which is his other leg. Stand on ...
