Re: Anti semitism

As I said above, RLB was incredibly stupid. https://www.gq-magazine.co.uk/politics/article/rebecca-long-bailey-sack#Echobox=1593164530 "Long-Bailey retweeted an interview (since amended) with the actor Maxine Peake in the Independent, praising her as “an absolute diamond”. The trouble is Peake ...

Re: Anti semitism

RLB was unbelievably dim to tweet in the first place. If she didnt understand the likely reaction she must have had her head in the sand over the last 4 years. Starmer gave her an opportunity to retract and apologise but she declined to do so. I dont see what other course of action he could have tak...

Re: Transfer news, fake news, baseless speculation, and various levels of truthiness - Season 2019/20

Very odd move for a young player, presumably with international ambitions, to make at this stage of their career. I dont see the T14 as being a better development environment than the Premiership, and being in France will mean he wont even be considered for England. Money shouldnt really be a decisi...

That would be a bold move. Good to see a young English coach under consideration.

Trevor Phillips - "So “Swing Low, Sweet Chariot”, celebrating the Underground Railway, written AFTER the Civil War by a freed slave, made popular by the African American Fisk Jubilee Singers, sung at many black funerals and civil rights demonstrations, honoured by Congress, now to be banned. It...

When i say one in under 5 minutes i mean one circuit of 20, 40 and 60M shuttles. And even that might be a stretch.

Re: A view from the dark side

JP's a good guy and a good ref.

The modern elite game is fiendishly hard to ref, not least due to the exacting fitness requirements.

As far as a bronco is concerned, i think i could manage one in under 5 minutes....

Re: COVID19

NZ had a clear strategy from the outset: they would eliminate the virus. They werent interested in trying to keep a lid on things and reduce the death toll. They set out to hit the virus hard early on. Its worked a treat. Now they obviously had advantages being an island and having a largely rural, ...

Re: Salary Cap changes

Yes. I have some sympathy with the players on how this has been handled. On the other hand, being paid 75% of something vs. the real threat of 100% of nothing if clubs go out of business. If a couple of clubs were to go under, there would be a lot of players who’d be unemployed and less clubs with ...

Re: Salary Cap changes

I think players as a whole might need to recognise that they've been a tad overpaid across the last 5-6 years and that they might need to cut their cloths a little more. Puja You would hope they might see this. Wages have outstripped income to a ridiculous degree. The pro game in England cannot sus...

Re: Transfer news, fake news, baseless speculation, and various levels of truthiness - Season 2019/20

Please let this be the contract the H. Thomas fulfils his potential. I’d also settle for not perennially injured. Who was that game away to in Europe a few seasons back in appalling conditions? I think perhaps Montpellier, and Thomas was not only part of an amazing pack performance when I suspect m...

Disappointed that Ollie Dawe is among them. Looked good for the u20s but clearly hasnt been able to make the transition into senior rugby.

Re: COVID19

I've spent a career dealing with experts, particularly scientific ones and it's absolutely true. A while ago I was lamenting the absence of scientists amongst the government because they just wouldn't have a clue. The problem with scientists is that all too often they don't understand what normal p...

Re: Sam Burgess believes England 2015 World Cup campaign undermined by Mike Ford

Burgess was ridiculously overhyped and should be eternally grateful that he was given an opportunity at Bath, gained caps for England that were never justified and had the amazing good fortune to play in a home WC.
He got far more than his ability in Union deserved.
What a feckin' tosser.

Re: COVID19

The Scottish and Welsh Govts havent exactly covered themselves in glory. The scandalous way in which care homes have been hung out to dry shames all the UK's Govts. Mind you, i'd take Sturgeon and Drakeford in a heartbeat over Johnson. Serious questions being raised about the quality of the advice f...

Re: Transfer news, fake news, baseless speculation, and various levels of truthiness - Season 2019/20

Its unlikely to happen but i think some kind of qualification period might be in order here. If a player is raised in a country, learns the game there, is nurtured through the club game there and represents that country at any level and moves on to become capable of playing international rugby, then...

Isiekwe needs to decide if he's a lock or a flanker. If the former he needs to add some bulk, if its the latter he needs better skills around the breakdown and a bit more pace.

Re: COVID19

Have Cummings actions and his comments from yesterday, along with the support of the PM and a number of senior colleagues, been helpful in reinforcing the need for the public to heed Government advice.? The position the Cummings found themselves in was obviously exceptional. I mean, no one else in Britain would have had to weigh up the difficulties imposed by the possibility of both parents being ill and so stricken that they would be unable to look after a small child. That dreadful dilemma would ...

As one of those involved in SPI-B, the Government advisory group on behavioural science, I can say that in a few short minutes tonight, Boris Johnson has trashed all the advice we have given on how to build trust and secure adherence to the measures necessary to control COVID-19. Be open and honest,...

Re: COVID19

The notion that the Cummings couldnt have acquired any assistance they required while living in London seems pretty ludicrous to me. These are well connected, highly paid people who could have easily made suitable arrangements if they were laid so low they couldn't offer any childcare. Heck, they co...
