Re: v Wales

It has a certain Lancaster era smell about it, ie there’s failure at a macro level. The last 6N when a Jones team was this bad you could pinpoint the problem(s), this looks different.

Re: Sale v Exeter Fri 7.45

Niiice. Lovely from Simmonds to put him through the gap but the rest is all his own work. I was trying to work out who the last player he beat before scoring was by working my way through Sale’s backrow options until Kay said it was Yarde...... seriously quick feet.

Hodge seems to be getting a run with Hogg away. How’s he going? I had high hopes watching him at age grade.

Re: v Wales

Are the Sarries players any worse than usual? For me, they’ve all just carried through their form from a year ago: Itoje has been superb Mako was good George was good but clearly ate too much over Christmas Billy is the same as he has been since he came back from his first broken arm. Farrell is his...

Re: Exeter vs Northampton controversy

What if a hooker and two locks go down with cramp? Worse, what if someone goes down holding their head? Or is introducing a culture wherein you're expected to play enough? And is that time based, or just failing to run to the set piece? Magic sponge Not the most cutting insult I’ve ever heard but I...

Re: v Wales

Don’t worry lads, Stephen Jones has a plan. Farrell is first name on his team sheet and Attwood is in the 5 shirt. He’s also swapped May and Watson.

Re: America's Cup

Bit of a kicking. Luna Rossa just too quick in the lighter winds. The first race got my hopes up but my optimism (lower level of pessimism) didn’t last long.
In the long term, Ratcliffe’s ideas for an F1 style season sound amazing.

Re: Mobility of forwards in pre-professional and professional eras

Many will disagree with me here, but I'd say that the flanker with the most complete all round game in the Brit.Isles over the past few years is Justin Tipuric. He can tackle, jackal, lineout jump, link, has great hands and speed and is a superb game reader with the knack of being in the right plac...

Re: Mobility of forwards in pre-professional and professional eras

Yep I very much agree with your point, just thought it a good way to further vent my frustration over Youngs! It is certainly an issue, and it’s not just picking up a rugby ball at a young age, which helps NZ, but also other similar games such as Aussie Rules and Gaelic football which have loads of ...

Re: Owen Farrell

I don’t care who is shouting what, its a 6 on 2 overlap with a dog leg and a massive hole in the defensive ‘line’. Give it to Slade, Lawrence or Daly and that line is bust, ie do anything other than what he did with a shed load of time and options. If it’s an isolated incident then you could put it ...

We're not that far removed in time from a period where people like Lawes were praised for much more aggressive, borderline late, blindside shots on 9s and 10s are we? I suppose the difference is Lawes was committed to the tackle prior to the player passing the ball, whereas those arguing Farrell co...

Agreed. As I text my bro after he sent me the link to Dawson’s article: ‘Dawson’s joined a long list. The press seemed to fully turn on Farrell after the Scotland match. There had been a trickle since the autumn matches but the floodgates opened after Scot. As is usual, he’s gone from being the mess...

Re: Team for Italy

I’m still of the opinion it’s a cheap shot. Not card able, probably not a pen but definitely a talking to. I’ve played rugby, in fact I’ve played over 22 years worth of games of rugby, chest bumps are part of the game but it doesn’t mean it’s legal. Getting punched in the face at the bottom of a ruc...
