Re: Jack Willis

If I've got Vailanu I'd have Willis, Shields and Vailanu. Shields has been looking better and better. Johnson on the bench to come on for Vailanu after 55. What's happened to Carr? Nothing at all... maybe him at 6 then. Does he look better at 6? My impression, and I'm sure you're paying rather more...

Re: Jack Willis

I would add some of the positions Willis gets into over the ball look... sub-optimal for him if he wants to avoid injury. He must be quite a flexible lad, but he's asking an awful lot of his hamstrings, and he's risking both knee and ankle injury, I know they all are but he's getting over the ball s...

Re: Snap General Election called

If you don't believe me, ask yourself why, across the world, corporation tax is based on profits? If your idea worked, why is no one doing it? (This doesn't prove you wrong, but it suggests you need to come up with a detailed explanation of how it will work.) it turns out someone is sort of doing i...

Re: Snap General Election called

Dividends are taxed - within income tax. A company that neither pays nor receives from the state can hardly be said to be being supported. That's like saying a homeless person is being supported by the state (hey, they don't pay tax do they?). If a company has a couple of tough years (which often h...

Re: Snap General Election called

Couple of things: 1) Who's talking about supporting struggling companies? Corporation tax income doesn't go towards paying crap companies! 2) Promoting success is all well and good, but above a certain level, profit is just socked away in savings and investments and doesn't reenter the economy. The...

Re: Snap General Election called

For me I'd much rather be able to tax dividends than corporation tax as that taxes distributed income and leaves the companies more incentivised to invest. There might need to be consideration additionally given to companies storing capital in investments, but we're seeing that happen now anyway An...

Re: Snap General Election called

Government needs to regulate better to get companies to serve interests other than the shareholders and management (which is always management's primary concern ;)). That means strong worker rights, consumer rights, strong environmental regulations etc. All things which will be decimated (in other ...

Outstanding Technically that's dicking about keeping your teammates offside with the ball in one hand begging to get into trouble, and then he gets free to set up a wonder try. Whether the defence work harder if the match is in doubt is also open to question. Blimey. If he keeps doing it and keeps ...

Re: Snap General Election called

But at a certain level of growth, shareholders provide capital which may not otherwise be obtainable. Whilst it may seem unfair, in reality shareholders lend their money at risk and without such investment many products we take for granted may not have been available. The alternative is to lend fro...

Re: Snap General Election called

I'm taking profitability to be a measure of success, and I want to promote that success. Failing companies should be allowed to fail seeing that capital and labour return to the markets. As before Corp Tax is in essence a handbrake on the economy seeing more successful companies support struggling ...

Re: Snap General Election called

Transactional taxes need not be limited in the sense you'd create a new VAT model which targets those at the lower end of the earnings scale and frees up some constraints on the owners of the capital. You can look at processes undertaken across the board and query what would make sense to levy a tax...

Re: Snap General Election called

tl;dr - Tax money has to come from somewhere and a well-pitched corporation tax is taking money from places where people aren't going to miss it as much as others. Puja I'm not saying there shouldn't be tax on companies, but put it on consumption, put it on transactions, and don't put it on profits...

Re: Snap General Election called

In an ideal world we would have perfect competition, and most business revenue would be needed to pay the costs of the business, so there would be very little profit to be taxed. However, since we don't live in that world, it seems reasonably to take a % of the profits of these businesses which are...

Who the feck is Wayne Bennett? Australian RL coach in charge of the RL Lions and is current England coach. He is their Eddie Jones, but taller and less Ewok-like. I don't even know if the Lions would the men's or women's team. Given we normally show true diversity and name the female team after a f...

It should face constant questioning on such front. The idea we'...

Re: Snap General Election called

I confess I don't recall taking of ordinary and extraordinary profits, and actually extraordinary profit seems a clunky and potentially misleading term if that's how it's used, but I'm many years removed from any study in field. I'm also not sure how that comment sits alongside my comment around my ...
