Re: Scots Abroad VIII (or let's spot the new messiah)

Laidlaw will get bums on seats though & be super marketable. Was he not really popular in Japan? Pretty sure someone from Scotland was.

Re: Scots Abroad VIII (or let's spot the new messiah)

Hardly surprising news, but I've read that Greig Laidlaw has put pen to paper for a three-year contract with NTT Shining Arcs (a fine name for a rugby club, and no, I've never heard of them either!) in Japan. At his age a 3 year contract is impressive. Should be a good payout and he'll be well rece...

Re: Scots Abroad VIII (or let's spot the new messiah)

Did we have a list somewhere on here of potential SQ players? Trying to find it - am sure there was some full back in super rugby not mentioned above who is SQ. Maybe somebody better at the Internet than me could knock one up on Wikipedia. Am sure agents would be all over it once it’s up and runnin...

Re: Scots Abroad VIII (or let's spot the new messiah)

Did people ever confirm whether Will Jordan is qualified. Firmly out the question but has made me follow him more closely. He is some player. All Blacks have some serious options at 15. I believe Glasgow were very close to signing him as a Hogg replacement last summer - that's what fueled the SQ ru...

Wow. Great news for him if he can get regular game time. What are sarries seeing that the SRU did not? I suspect he is very cheap by their usual wages though.

Don't think I've ever seen him play. Wasn't he behind Davidson in the age groups?

Yup but who knows what 2 seasons in France could have done for him.

Re: 1872 Cup Champions

The lock situation at Glasgow looks like a shit show as Sykes is apparently being snapped up by Edinburgh too (wtf?). They only have Gray, Harley & Cummings on the books. Lots of rumours ranging from McDonald & Naka being resigned to CHH and Alex Toolis coming back north. Either way it look...

Re: The Glasgow Carpet Burns and Cary Grant Appreciation Thread

After an amazing first year he does seem to have faded a bit. Any chance of an Edinburgh 7 (or Crosbie) moving over? Leaves Glasgow with a first choice backrow of Wilson, Gordon and Faegerson, with Harley, Fusaro and Ashe as backups I guess. Edinburgh have Ritchie, Watson, Bradbury, Mata, Crosbie a...

Re: The Glasgow Carpet Burns and Cary Grant Appreciation Thread

Yeah, wierd career. Started off as a bright exciting talent, got injured at the wrong time and ended it as solid but uninspiring. If someone could find a clip of that length of the field try he set up Vs Cheetahs (for Gibbons I think), that would be cool. I think I saw him make his debut for Glasgo...

Is there any way you could keep the nominations to one thread Stom? 15 x new threads will make finding the regulars a pain in the ass.

Mako for me. No contest.

Re: The Glasgow Carpet Burns and Cary Grant Appreciation Thread

Great player & a good career. Felt he could have been a much bigger player for both Glasgow & Scotland though. A couple of badly timed injuries, consistency at the right time & a good stretch of game time down south prevented him from making more of himself at international level earlier...

Re: Edinburgh rents

Not lived in Edinburgh for 4 years, but 725 pounds is on the high price range for a 1 bed room. Use to pay 750 for a 2 bedroom flat on Nicholson street. BTW check council tax for each area> Council tax in the meadow area is quite high. Don't think there will be any festival this year. I know there'...

The asking prices on rightmove do look a bit heavy on that basis. Looking to enjoy the city centre for a few months first.

Edinburgh rents

Unfortunately I had my contract terminated (travel industry) but have luckily picked up an opportunity in Edinburgh. I'll need to rent a place in the city for a few months - that could be a long way away but I thought I'd be proactive and have a look around online. I'd assume that around this time o...

I'd like to share Sean Lamont's try against Saracens when playing for Northampton.

Unfortunately with the way the internet is going most of the videos have been pulled... If anyone can find it - virtual karma to you.

Barclay confirmed to be leaving this summer. Not clear what he will do but hint he may be open to a final club. BBC article says Scott is out of contract too. Surely they should be keeping him. Glasgow should give Barclay a 1 year deal. They've got some very average options in the back row - learni...

With the prospect of no internationals, Duhan and Kebble may have to wait another 2 years. none until April 2022? You're more miserable than me! He's referring to 2020 being the last year of the 3 year residency rule. Just because there is no rugby to be played doesn't mean they aren't qualified - ...
