Re: Jack Willis

Willis the younger needs to keep developing a bit more, but he may be in the mix before the next world cup. Backrow for England suddenly looks rather good. 12 still looks like a huge issue. I like your thinking. Who you nominating? I think one the Currys. It seemed absurd we have a flanker just nom...

Re: Scotland World Cup campaign

For some reason there’s an article with Eddie Jones talking about Scotland's World Cup campaign.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/rugby-union/50457224

Nothing particularly shocking in there, I’m more just curious why it exists at all.

Re: Scots Abroad VIII (or let's spot the new messiah)

Hutchinson and Russell scores two very entertaining tries. Hutchinson seems to score most times he plays in the last year or so.

That’s actually a promotion for Ford from starting reserve to finishing starter, the most important people in the squad apparently.

Harris imposing himself vs Toulouse more than I think I've seen from him before at club level.

Interesting comparison. Don’t really disagree without but somehow one is struggling for a club game and the other is the best player in the universe.

Re: Jones

I'm not sure that's remotely true about how forwards and backs break down in their approach to coaching a side on the tactical front. The most attack based approach at this WC came from Jamie Joseph, he'd be followed by the likes of Hansen and Cheika. The worst approaches vis a vis attack came from...

Re: Glos V Toulouse Friday.

Given how often he played at Leicester (and I thought he looked a good player, if a bit flakey) I had actually assumed he’d left Glos already and gone to the championship or France.

Is VRR not cutting it or just never fit? Heard very good things about him but never actually seen much. Seems like he's injured an awful lot.

Re: 6 Nations

I feel like you did a very good job of phasing your centres in and out one at a time, but I didn't realise you now have two 32 year olds. Who is likely to take those spots in the next few years? I always thought Patchell could make a very exciting 12, but with Anscombe/Biggar getting on that probabl...

Re: Eng v SA Match thread

SCW has nailed it. Nowt to do with a lightweight back row but going to the WC with powder puff props known for their ball handling rather than scrummaging- added to which we were One light in numbers - then sending Cole & Marler to do a Laurel and Hardy routine at a mid week press conference. O...

Re: Exeter vs Bristol, Sandy Park, Sat

Hughes did look good at times but he has bafflingly bad handling. That quick tap is exactly what I'd always feared would happen if I ever tried one. I think Bristol will suit him very well and he can clearly be a fantastic player at this level, but not convinced he is able to translate it to the ne...

I still suspect his balance had a lot to do with kicking his leg out. His hips are in front of his body, he's already leaning backwards and trying to put his foot down. Natural reaction is to straighten the bent leg. That strikes me as the opposite of the natural reaction. If you're falling backwar...

Don't agree with all of it but there's some interesting bits and pieces in here as always.

And yes, the bit about Youngs did make me laugh.
