Re: v Wales

The record is impressive but take out the first 2 years - 2016 and 2017 - when we only lost one game and the picture is a little different. Also worth pointing out he has only won the GS once. After the 2018 losing streak England’s win % is just short of 80%. The best win % in that period of any ti...

Well, could be a LOT worse in fairness. You’re points clear at the top of the league.

Yes, just needs to stay injury free for a bit and I think he can go all the way to the top.

Re: EPS Watch / Player Form Thread

Thought Dombrandt was really good yesterday. His handling is streets ahead of any other back rower we have. He put in some really clever work during the game. Smith again very good, but that has now become a given. Will Evans wont be in Jones mind but he is one helluva player. Quins definitely the ...

Re: Tigers vs Wasps Sat 3pm

I’m not saying the Brookes’ red was necessarily the wrong decision, but you do see high/head shots like that quite a few times from ruck & tackle situation in every game . It was really only the Lavinini reaction that highlighted it. That's probably the point of cracking down on it, no? I’d sug...

Re: Mobility of forwards in pre-professional and professional eras

If given a significant amount of time to adjust to all the areas the modern game has moved forwards I’m sure the 2003 team would be very good. If they were simply transported 18 years into the future for a one off game they’d get steamrolled by pretty much every current tier 1 team. There’s only so ...

Re: EPS Watch / Player Form Thread

I thought today was one of the best games I’ve ever seen Dombrandt have. Usual sparks of brilliance in attack, but really involved in all aspects, good work rate and some big defensive interventions. Made 20 tackles all told.

Farrell was on the bench for the Japan game in the 2018 Autumn series. We were pretty rubbish in the 1st half and Farrell came on at half time to play 12. We were loads better in the 2nd half.

I hadn’t seen Hayes play for a while until I caught the Quins game at the weekend. He has completely changed his body shape. Looks like a seriously powerful athlete now.

Re: Team for Italy

Let's be honest, the knee doesn't do that without being proper fucked. He's out for a long time, potentially gone forever. Yes, not good at all. Dan Leavy has come back this year from something similar and seems to be slowly getting back to his previous level, although it’s 2 years in March since h...

I know he’s not particularly highly rated on this forum, but Brad Shields is playing some really good rugby at the moment for Wasps.

Re: Team for Italy

Rugby Union is the only oval ball sport where, upon seeing some incredible feat of athleticism, a large percentage of fans initial reaction is whether it should be banned because it could maybe, potentially, theoretically be a little bit dangerous.

Re: Team for Italy

:P I thought Slade had a good game. He makes things happen and looks dangerous every time he gets ball in hand. Because we actually had some intent to play and move the ball this week was much easier to see the players who are playing well and those struggling. I’d say Billy and Daly look the most o...

On second watch I was even more convinced that if our discipline had been even vaguely at normal levels we’d have found a way to win. It was bizarre just quite how brainless we were.

I’d bet good money that if Eddie goes any time between now and the WC it’ll be John Mitchell taking over.

Re: Team for Italy

Really don’t think anything matters this weekend, beyond getting some sort of win. Win well or win narrowly, we have 3 much bigger and tougher fixtures coming up which the team will be judged on. I know everyone hates Eddie and these players now, but objectively there’s a lot of serious quality in ...

Re: Team for Italy

I think this is the team (excluding any new injuries) Eddie is going to stick with through to the end of the 6 Nations now. I think he’ll give this lot every chance to turn it around and get some wins/performances going. As fans we move on quickly, but imo it’s clear that this group of players have ...

Re: Your combined 6N team before & after

Really interested in watching more of Sutherland this 6N’s. He came back last year and was getting ridiculously overhyped after a couple of decent games. Was a bit ott imo, especially as England winning the scrum battle pretty comprehensively at Murrayfield was one of the keys to winning that game i...
