Re: EPS Watch / Player Form Thread

While I agree in principle with taking Mako mainly for the knockout games, we really can't travel to Japan with effectively 4 props can we? Could we change the squad if we wanted to at this stage? or would we be left seeing if Nowell or McConnochie don't pull through their own injury worries?

Re: Argentina Tour - Catch-all thread

Not sure Haskell will be on his way out as quickly as you seem to suspect. Curry was pestering a lot in defensive rucks, and scored some good turnovers , but his clearout work wasn't great, and failing to clear a 9 out will be a black mark. Haskell is in the England side to make tackles and clear r...

Re: Lions Attrition - update.

Why couldnt they have announced a supplementary squad of, say, a dozen players who would be on standby for injuries or to join up in the 2 last weeks to provide midweek cover? Did Gatland not end up saying before the tour started that they had a list of potential injury replacements in mind, but he...

Re: Argentina Tour - Catch-all thread

I posted previously that I would of preferred to keep Wilson and maybe switch Curry twins. That being said I guess this was Eddie's first choice back row ahead of the tour. This may will be an audition for the starting back row for the autumn internationals. Obviously Billy didn't travel with the Li...

Re: Argentina Tour - Catch-all thread

On the back row, I wouldn't change a thing. I'd rather see if Wilson can back up his last performance than give a one-off to Armand . Two big Wilson performances and we've got a viable Robshaw backup - one from Wilson and one from Armand means that we've still got two possibles and we're no further...

Re: League Thread - Discuss fixtures, results and anything else league related

Managed to get relegated on the final day of the season :( Well actually I got relegated having lost to one of close rivals a couple of weeks ago, but was confirmed on the final day of the season despite winning my last game. I really struggled with 5-6 of my best players losing CSR and not been abl...

It looks like he's (they are) test ready already but you could break him (them) by over playing them.

Re: Name your predicted squad for Argentina

At this point I think i've given up predicting what Eddie will do :D That being said... hopefully Beaumont will get called up to cover 8 and lock, but at very least some one that can play 8. Personally I think the back row should be Robshaw, Hughes and which ever one of the young opensides impresses...

This is part of an article in today's DT: 'Hatley confirmed that Billy Vunipola had done modified training on Monday after his successful return from injury for Saracens on Sunday and will be in the squad for Scotland.' Anybody got any idea what 'modified training' means? If he's in the squad with ...

Re: Stick or twist for Italy

So I finished the match... We do have a conundrum at lock, as all three of them are excellent. We do have a conundrum at 9, as both of them are pants. We do have a conundrum at 12, as we still haven't tried out any bloody alternatives. We do have a conundrum at 15, as we still haven't tried out any...

Re: Stick or twist for Italy

Quoted for fun. I said to my dad yesterday, whilst Owen was 1 from 4/5; I wondered how much talk there would be about Fazlet's failure with the boot from the people who eviscerated Ford for his shocker. I have yo say I have no desire to defend Farrell after that display. Agreed. He let the general ...

Re: Stick or twist for Italy

Would seem strange to not start hiim for potentially three matches with the majority of the first XV available, to try and make available for two test matches in a team which potentially could be missing a lot of first choice players.

Re: Callard criticises the RFU for failing the Saxons ...

With Lions touring this summer, surely there is a good chance the people that might of been touring at saxons level will just travel with the main England team instead? I think it's would more of an issue if there's no tour the following year.

Article on the BBC website about a training squad for next week, Manu Tuilagi, Itoje, Haskell, Nowell and Anthony Watson all named. A first call up for Nathan Catt as well, Joe Launchberry is out with injury though.

Re: Hartley has brain~fart

I thought it was a standard defensive answer tbh. I guess you could read it as saying that Hartley doesn't necessarily have to be in the best 15 to be captain and a potential freudian slip that Jones doesn't think he belongs in the best 15 on talent. That would be interesting. I didn't really mean ...

Makes sense IMO esp with the Argentina tour. Lions will take our main core of players this will prob be a nice mix of starters and fringe players anyway. Kind of wish it was the same with say Samoa and NZ. Play NZ twice and Samoa once or something. You'd have thought it would be a good policy for t...

Re: EPS Watch / Player Form Thread

Jones said it would be a brutal training camp. There are plenty of ways to train without full-on contact. Of course, Watson could've broken his cheek bone by taking a shoulder that missed a tackle bag during run of the mill training and the training sessions were nothing more than you'd expect at t...
