Too many stupid penalties from losses of control, but our attacking rugby has looked much better.

Re: EPS Watch / Player Form Thread

Josh Bayliss called up by Scotland - didn't know he was eligible. Good player, good enough for a few caps, but not going to get close for England with our strength in depth. Leaves Bath up the Khyber though - we'd already run out of locks and now we've run out of backrows Granny from Aberdeen appar...

Re: EPS Watch / Player Form Thread

As someone who has been described as the love child of Joe Marler and Luke Wallace, I think I might be flirting with hipster territory (albeit unintentionally and only when it comes to image). I’ve had a full beard for about 5yrs now but I can’t see myself shaving it off. I am going to cut my hair p...

Re: The Rugby Magazine Fantasy partners with Restart Rugby

There have been some huge scores this week in the Prem game Big difference between the 68% that have Simmonds (and mostly started him as Captain) and those who don't. How expensive would he have to be to not be worth it? I never learn my lesson. I always think "I'll have someone else other tha...

Re: EPS Watch / Player Form Thread

I know he’s not particularly highly rated on this forum, but Brad Shields is playing some really good rugby at the moment for Wasps. Agreed and he looks less of a tosser without the beard. :D Just so you know, I have a large beard - not massively dissimilar to Brad’s previous effort, but probably c...

Re: Team for Italy

Let's be honest, the knee doesn't do that without being proper fucked. He's out for a long time, potentially gone forever. Yes, not good at all. Dan Leavy has come back this year from something similar and seems to be slowly getting back to his previous level, although it’s 2 years in March since h...

Watching on terrestrial so couldn’t really see what happened.

Seems perverse that Italy got the scrum and then score in those circumstances.

Re: Team for Italy

We’re not at cross purposes on Randall. I knew what you meant and I agree with you completely. Pat Lam would be a fantastic option. At Bristol he’s had the backing of an ambitious owner who has been happy to spend money, but his achievements at Connacht were genuinely outstanding. I would equate tha...

Re: Team for Italy

There was no way he was going to give guys like Randall and Odogwu a go after Scotland! Interesting observation, that. Why, is the obvious question? It smacks a bit of Cipriani turning things round and never being seen again. Just supposing Randall were to run the game, speed up ball all over the p...

Re: Team for Italy

Disappointing 23 ... As others have said, what is the point of picking Randall and Odogwu only to ignore the obvious opportunity to play them? In the circumstances, Eddie could easily have dropped the likes of Farrell and Billy, given game time to Randall and Odogwu and said words to the effect of ‘...

Re: Team for Italy

Is Jones mega-mercenary? What I am getting at is will he cling on to screw the RFU for every last contract penny or will he resign with good grace once he realises it's not going to happen for him? I'm inclined to think he is honourable enough to prefer to go before he is pushed. Let's face it, by ...

Re: New captain

Itoje for me too, but to do that Farrell would have to go as he is too petulant to and arrogant to accept the fact that someone is a better captain than him. That will never happen with Jones as coach. I don't enjoy him as a person or a captain, but I haven't seen anything to suggest that he'd be d...

Re: New captain

Itoje is a great player no doubt. But he frequently seems on the cusp of blowing his fuse and losing a cool head. Not the best attributes for a captain. England will probably continue to get the best out of him but not naming him captain. I think Ford has the rugby brain and leadership skills to do...

Re: Alternative England

The thing is, we DO have exciting players. We just choose not to use them or don’t allow them to express themselves. Can we play like France? Maybe not quite, but a halfback combination of Randall and Smith if given the freedom to play would be exciting to watch. Particularly if paired with Lawrence...

Re: England v Scotland

Scotland played well their back row was man for man better than ours (sorry Curry and Billy fans they aren’t as quite as good as some of you would have it) I'd say man for man Scotland players were better. I don't think either team played test-level rugby. It's one thing to lose a great match... Th...

Re: England v Scotland

Scotland weren't even all that good. Considering the amount of pressure they applied, they failed to convert over and over. France would have put 30+ on us today. Shocking display from us. Totally agree. Didn’t even look like creating anything and gave away so much territory with dumb penalty after...

Re: England v Scotland

Unbelievably, embarrassingly bad.

Full credit to Scotland, but I’d struggle to give any of the England players any better than 5/10.

How can we continue to pick Farrell 10? We look absolutely awful with him in the driving seat.

On paper, this has the makings of a good game. I’d say those sides are fairly evenly matched.

Not sure why Worcester aren’t starting Hougaard though?
