Re: Jack Willis

He will surely go to Japan, assuming he is fit to do so. Variations of this statement on the board have been confusing the f*ck out of me for the past few days, as "take him to Japan" over the past 4 years has been synonymous with selection for the RWC. My brain keeps trying to parse it a...

Re: Snap General Election called

I personally liked the bit of cognitive dissonance served up by Boris at the same event. It's a truism of the current Conservative party that the best way to higher tax revenues is cutting corporation tax and that raising it to 2011 levels, as Labour have suggested, is nothing short of economic vand...

Pelosi has chucked out some rancid bait that, if the Donster feels he's being unfairly maligned he can always come and testify in the impeachment hearing himself, which of course Trump has snapped up and tweeted about. Apparently he will "seriously consider it." Unfortunately, his very com...

Great! So Leicester will get to keep their England players during the 6N if we're fighting against relegation too? Thanks Uncle Eddie!

Re: Snap General Election called

tl;dr - Tax money has to come from somewhere and a well-pitched corporation tax is taking money from places where people aren't going to miss it as much as others. Puja I'm not saying there shouldn't be tax on companies, but put it on consumption, put it on transactions, and don't put it on profits...

Re: Snap General Election called

If the profit from a company is removed in wages, or dividend, or return of capital then by all means tax it. I've no issue with that or with progressive taxation at the individual level, I do however question the virtue of putting a handbrake on successful corporations with a tax on company profit...

Re: Snap General Election called

This is one thing I kinda agree with the Brexiteers about: the UK is a country of 70m+ relatively rich people. Major corps will find a way to profitably serve those people, even if their profit margins are smaller than for the US. And, yes, I know it would increase prices. But it wouldn't increase ...

Lineout been shocking for weeks and no better tonight, you can’t lose 50% of your throws and expect to win any rugby match. Just wank. Even despite lineout that was there to be won. Something impressive has just happened in the impeachment hearings. Re: Snap General Election called

Very fair point. I don’t think it’s fair to blame Railtrack profit motive though; decades of underinvestment is what they faced- more fool them for taking it on, one could argue- but it’s undeniable they failed in a number of areas. Network Rail may be better, but a low bar. On giving broadband awa...

Network Rail? The cause of a great deal of angst from passengers, even if they blame the operators. Basket case. Anyone with a pension fund planning on retiring any time soon....eg me....should be turning it into cash about now, assuming Labour get any sniff of power. I will note that they're not planning on nationalising broadband providers, but nationalising the network infrastructure - BT OpenReach, rather than BT. It makes a bit more sense when you look at it that way, as doing that allows them to control the rollout of fibre broadband based on what's best f...

Given how often he played at Leicester (and I thought he looked a good player, if a bit flakey) I had actually assumed he’d left Glos already and gone to the championship or France.
