Re: Sale vs Leicester

Sale made hard work of the poorest Leicester side I think I have ever seen....but the conditions were abysmal.... I know you were missing a raft of international players as the press keep reminding us but we were missing Faf, Lood, Akker, RJVR, Ashton, AJ, Josh all injured + Tom and Byron on intern...

Re: Sale vs Leicester

I won't bury a young player on the basis of one crap game in a crap team , but he played the ball away even slower than Youngs and showed very little promise. Puja Lol, and proceed to bury him. Given the lack of progress made by any forward, seems a tad harsh to have a pop at his distribution. Hard...

Re: Sale vs Leicester

Anyone watched this? I watched the first two mins and was convinced JvP was an upgrade on Youngs in that time. That did not continue, I'm afraid. JvP looked like he'd been learning from Youngs - ponderous to the breakdown, slow to make decisions, and not the quickest pass (although accurate enough)...

Preferably at 9 so BS doesn’t insult the rugby world by getting a ton.

How is the tournament shot for England? We've lost one game!

Re: The Rugby Magazine - Fantasy Rugby

After scoring the highest points in our little league last week this week I have gone to utter despair at not even having a starting 15 of starters and subs. Most of my bench is red too. I shall be lucky to get into the top 50,000 this week. Suspect that we're all in the same boat. Scrum half appea...

Re: Team news for Ireland.

I can picture the coaches selection meeting. Steve Borthwick - "Listen Mr Jones. The media and the fans have some concern that your selections are getting a bit erratic and you seem to be on the verge of having a bit of a breakdown with your logic. The rest of us coaches have said surely you c...

And yet the approval system is still going - I'm having to manually approve a couple of new posters on the EMB who are making decent, rugby-related posts.

Re: Team news for Ireland.

Since we are reflecting on who should be in charge, does anyone else think that Tier 1 countries should have the same qualification rules for coaches as for players? I would prefer it, not least to see the local unions have to work on coach development pathways rather than just chucking money at in...

Re: Team news for Ireland.

Jesus f*cking Christ. Can we have Mikey's team back please? A full 5 of the starting XV do not play those positions for their club. Why the fuck have we dropped an actual full-back (after two caps of hell, no less, poor sod must be feeling great!) so that we can move to an ersatz full-back and an er...

Re: Team news for Ireland.

I have a feeling that we'll hammer Ireland to be honest, I think a big performance is bubbling under the surface. A lot is riding on the Ireland game, in my eyes. We were the top ranked team in the world after beating NZ and, while the loss to SA dropped us back to 3, that is where we should be asp...

He packed down at 8 and waddled somewhat ineffectively off the scrum in defence. Watching him pick and go in attack was like watching slow-motion.

Re: Sale vs Leicester

Interesting to see van Poortvliet get the shout over Simmons at scrum-half for Leicester. I've heard a lot of good things about JvP and am fascinated to see him play. Not a good sign for the 22 year old Simmons being overlooked for the 18 year old though!

Re: Team news for Ireland.

Contrary sod. ;) ;) I think Jones's record is skewed by that early winning run, as was his mindset in making the right changes early enough. Either our players are better than we think or Jones could do miracles? Strange how it all changed. Skewed by winning 18 on the trot, the lucky swine, includi...

Ideally you'd move for both, but in theory it's easier at 12 providing you don't blitz and don't even push hard on the drift. Where does he go at 8, the blindside? I'll let you know this weekend. Puja And? http://rugbyrebels.co/board/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=1833&start=350#p201997 It'll surpris...

Re: Transfer news, fake news, baseless speculation, and various levels of truthiness - Season 2019/20

Ben Glynn has been brought in to Saints on loan from Ospreys to help cover at lock I didn't know he'd gone to Ospreys! He's a good solid player though - you could do a lot worse for emergency cover. Harry Thackers out for 3 months so Bryan Byrne joins on loan from Leinster. Also, rail seats/standin...

Turning the clock back four years and offered the choice: Jones and Borthwick or Gatland and Edwards? For the next four years: Jones and Mitchell or Farrell and Catt? So, in a fit of pique about Jones's team not turning up in the RWC final, despite him having the highest win percentage of any Engla...

Re: Team news for Ireland.

Jones just seems to me quite prescriptive. A lot of the more successful, or if we’re being realistic, moderately successful coaches are. But I feel as if we need, as a whole, a change to more heads up rugby. English rugby has seriously skilled up in recent years and we need to make use of that. Has...

Re: Team news for Ireland.

I still groan every time I see that the only SHs are Youngs and Heinz. Their presence is ridiculous in the run-up to the next RWC. Would Jones pick them if his contract extended to 2023? You've got a bee in your bonnet about Jones's contract running out in 2021, but I don't see how it affects the s...

So good to see a pair of Quins locks. Such a position of lack for us for soooo long. Doesn’t mean they’ll make the grade. See Twomey, Mathews and Merrick. Given you’ve also missed out on/kicked out Launchbury and Kruis, lock isn’t really Quins finest area for talent spotting and development! South,...
