Parra and Laidlaw followed by Youngs? Clermont have very poor taste in scrum halves.

Yes. Last week I heard that Sebastien Bezy, back-up scrum half to Antoine Dupont is trading places with Morgan Parra.

Youngs and Laidlaw alternating at scrumhalf is just too much to fathom.

TRP Rumours:

Kyle Sinckler - Harlequins >>> Bristol
Harry Williams - Exeter >>> Gloucester/Harlequins
Matias Alemanno - Jaguares >>> Leicester
Nick Abendanon - Clermont >>> Glasgow Warriors
Carl Fearns - Lyon >>> Northampton
Logo Mulipola - Newcastle >>> Toulon/Pau
Josh Matavesi - Newcastle >>> Japan (no club mentioned)

Quins also on the look out for short term cover at 2 and 15.

Honestly, with the likely amount they’ll play for their clubs over the next 3 years and the salary they’ll command, despite him coming through us for years, I’d have Harry Williams at Quins over Sinckler

Agreed. Although a lot will depend on where Williams fits in to the England picture. I’m assuming he’ll leapfrog Cole post RWC.

Sinckler is a vastly superior player IMO but I’m not sure we have the squad at Quins to get the best out of him. If Williams is not an obvious regular in the England squad, I’d take a good player who’s available most of the time rather than a great player who plays relatively few games.

Pretty good idea tbh. If you're going to have a foreign element it's not a bad idea to have a Saffer or Argie bent to forming a squad, other examples are available

Couple of posters on the Bristol unofficial site saying they've heard that Sinckler is pretty much a done deal.

If so, I’m really curious to know how Lam is going to balance the books. Even if Radradra is not on £1m he’s not going to be cheap and Sinckler is reportedly looking for £500k+. Don’t Luatua and Piutau already occupy the marquee slots?

Putting aside the sourness, I really rate Lam, I like watching Bristol play and I think Sinckler will do very well there.

Sinckler will replace Afoa, surely?

Think the squad might get trimmed. Currently Bris have 47 players in their senior squad, some i dont think have played much, if at all, this season.

I think Madigan is going and i'm sure there's a few others who will likely be off too.

Afoa signed a new contract for another season.

Also apparently after Ford for 650,000

They've probably got space but that much?

Hughes went for a very large amount, young was saying we simply couldn't match it and it was a lot more than what he was on.

Sinkler, Hughes, Ford, piutau/luatua would probably come close to 2m on their own.

Also the likes of Thacker, Randall and O’Connor would have been fairly cheap a year ago, but they won’t stay that way. If Madigan is the only major leaver, they’re going to be struggling to stay under the cap with any renewals.

According to PL we're way under the cap at present.

Sinckler would be (I assume) the replacement for Afoa, who signed a one year extension. Given his age I wouldn't think he's on huge deal.

Madigan is likely off & is on £300-500K depending on rumour. Charles is looking to be brought into the salary cap so marquees for next season are Luatua & Radradra.

As well as Madigan I'd expect quite a few to leave and only a few joined. Also need to remember that a bunch of the first team squad are academy so not in the cap (like Capon, Lloyd, Kloska.. etc..). Just checked and it's 4 - 6 academy in the match squad so far.

But we'd have to close and start balancing ins/outs at that point. Can't see Ford being an option though given Sheedy and Lloyd are making 10 their own.

So those 4-6 will most likely have to be accounted for next season.

Why would they move Luatua outside the cap to bring Piutau under the cap? I'm sure Luatua is on a decent wedge, but I'm equally sure from the outside he wouldn't command as much as Piutau

Nope, LLoyd is in year 1 of a 4 year academy deal, Capon still has a few years left as well and think that players Dawe, Kloska all have a few years left. I suspect we'll see a few senior players depart (like the Lay brothers, Stirzaker and few more) to be replaced in the match day squad with academy.

Luatua had already signed his marquee deal before Radradra became avialable, the other marquee is CP so he needs to move to bring in Semi. To be fair to Luatua he's probably not far off CP in terms of value to Bristol.

In reality like Marcus Smith and the Curry twins you will most likely find that Lloyd will get a senior contract regardless of how many years they have left on their academy deal.

Most academy players who play first team rugby regularly will get a senior contract it just the way things go.
