Re: Squad for Summer

Has there been any more information on this? I thought he had signed a multi year contract with Cardiff, but now he wants to move abroad. He must have had an offer that he couldn’t refuse, you surely wouldn’t turn your back on an international career on a whim?

Re: Squad for Summer

I’m also hoping Basham gets a decent run out. I had my doubts about whether he could be effective but he routinely knocks over far bigger players and makes good yardage. He might not make it at international level but he definitely deserves an opportunity.

Re: Squad for Summer

I'm glad their having a look at Aneurin Owen, he's overtaken Tompkins at the Dragons this season. He’s certainly taken his chance. Tompkins was a bit disappointing to be honest, I was hoping for a bit more. He hasn’t quite hit the heights of last season. Owen has been very good and I’m sure he will...

Re: Squad for Summer

Not the worst squad, as it turns out. 5 uncapped players are in, all of whom are worth worth looking it, being Ben Carter, Taine Basham, Gareth Thomas, Ben Thomas and Tom Rogers. Very interesting to see Gareth Thomas in ahead of Rhys Carre, who has some work to do. Dillon Lewis is in yet again, wou...

Meanwhile from Friday - Boris Johnson learned that a Tory donor had funded the refurbishment of the Number 11 flat from media reports in late February, it is claimed. Lord Geidt says Boris Johnson was not aware David Brownlow had settled bill - said to be £200,000 - directly with the supplier on Oc...

Re: gaza conflict

The US will not impose sanctions on an ally to favour a terrorist group. It shouldn't be about favouring a terrorist group, in the same way that removing British military law from Northern Ireland wasn't about favouring the IRA. And it doesn't have to be sanctions - the USA provides so much money a...

The constant slog up the mountain to where? Ownership of all the Palestinian land and the full expulsion of the Palestinian people? Puja To nowhere, there isn't a plateau to be reached And to repeat I'm no fan of Israel's actions in many instances, merely I'm no fan of Hamas either. Both sets of le...

Re: gaza conflict

Hamas might know their stance against Israel will keep them on the right side of the right sort of supporter, but much of this is because Hamas is so unpopular, and in a recent pretence at democracy Hamas wasn't shown to be universally loved and has responded to it with all the emotional intelligen...

those running the conflict are utter arseholes, on both sides. there are no fine people involved That's the problem with this conflict - it's so easy to "both sides" it, when in fact it's massively asymmetrical. Israel have a modern army, one of the world's best missile defence and anti-r...

Re: Squad for Summer

Ben Thomas is doing well. Without wishing to put pressure on him as the next Barry John, it would be good to see him operate in a red shirt and see if he has what it takes.

Whilst the Ospreys won well yesterday, I wasn’t blown away by either of their centre.

Boris has been quite cautious in his wording this week so I suspect if infection rates rise quickly (and if they translate into hospital admissions) then things will pause. June 21st isn’t set in stone yet.

Re: Squad for Summer

I think Jac Morgan will be in with a shout, I'd like to see Ben Thomas at the next level also. Ben Thomas has massive potential. I don’t see him forcing his way into the top spot just yet and we should allow him to develop but a game against Canada would give him a taste and see if he can step up t...

Depending how much of a development tour this is going to be, Halfpenny and JD2 might get left out. Other possibilities: Amos, Keelan Giles, Jordan Williams Keiran Williams Sam Davies Keddie I suspect this has to be a development tour as I don’t see other opportunities for new players to put their ...

Re: Pro 14

Some poor decision making by the dragons has cost them this game. A much better second half from the dragons after a first half where Cardiff were dominant. Both teams had long periods of dominance and you could argue should have made better use of that dominance to increase the scoreboard.

Dragons playing against 13 men for some time and fail to make the most of it and then of course concede a try when Cardiff are back to 15. Not great awareness. The Captains challenge sucks all momentum out of the game whilst officials try to find the right incident. Not sure I’m a fan of this I’d ra...
